Versions: Windows Server 2008 onwards
Applicability: All versions of DSP and CranSoft running on Windows Server 2008 or later
Background:
The Windows event logs are key components of the troubleshooting process.
The Windows System log reports System level events, often related to the operating system and built in services and can be correlated with the data from other logs to gain a more complete picture of a problem.
To Export the Windows System Event Log:
- Open the Computer Management Console.
Windows Server 2008: Start > Computer > Right click, select Manage)
Windows Server 2012: Right click Start, select Computer Management) - Expand Event Viewer.
- Expand Windows Logs.
- Right click on System.
- Choose “Save All Events as” and choose the path and name the file. Please be sure to leave the “Save as type:” as “Event Files (*.evtx)”
- Use the Windows compression utility (or a third party utility such as 7zip) to compress the file ready for attachment to the issue.
