Trace files
Data Workbench uses three different trace files, depending on the components that are installed locally. Use the Syniti Data Workbench Configuration & Diagnostics tool (available from the Syniti Data Workbench option on the Windows Start menu) to view and manage the traces.
- If Data Workbench is installed, there is a text file in
Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Quadrate\dataworkbenchtrace.txt. - If the QAS service is installed, there is a trace.txt file located in the QAS folder, e.g.:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Syniti\DataWorkbench\QAS\trace.txt - If the QEE service is installed, there is a qeetrace.txt located in the QEE folder, e.g.:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Syniti\DataWorkbench\QEE\qeetrace.txt
The trace files, particularly the dataworkbench.txt file, can get large and should be managed accordingly. Trace file size does not typically affect functioning of the Data Workbench.
Log Tables
The QAS database includes two log tables which could fill up and slow down the Data Workbench accessing the View the Upload Results page. Use standard SQL Server management tools to manage the size of the database (e.g., shrink the database.)
- LogEntries table: Includes information regarding every upload that is done in Data Workbench. The UploadLog field, which is an unreadable data type, contains the detailed information that you see when you double click on an upload on the Upload Results page.
- TemplateLogEntries: This table breaks down the LogEntries records by Template used in the upload.
Logging
On the Upload Data to SAP page, the Advanced tab in the Upload Options dialog has a Logging option that allows you to set how much logging information is written into the Excel Spreadsheets Processing column after an upload is completed.
