Summary: | Using the Refresh Schema Information option to update external changes to source and target table structures in the Syniti DR/DBMoto metadata |
If you change the structure of source or target tables after setting up your connections and any replications, Syniti DR/DBMoto will not be aware of these changes when performing replications and they may fail. Some information about table structure is stored in the Syniti DR/DBMoto metadata and this information needs to be kept up to date for replications to run smoothly.
You must manually update Syniti DR/DBMoto's information about a table. The way to update the information stored in the Syniti DR/DBMoto metadata is to right click on the table and choose Refresh Schema Information. If you have changed more than one table in a schema or on a connection you can right click on the schema or connection and choose Refresh Schema Information rather than separately doing this on each table:
- Stop the Syniti DR Replication Agent/DBMoto Data Replicator or disable the replication(s) accessing the affected table(s) by right clicking on the replications and clicking on the checked Enable Replication entry.
- Right click on the source/target table(s), schema(s) or connection(s) and choose Refresh Schema Infomation.
- Enable the replication(s) again.
Note that this operation only updates Syniti DR/DBMoto metadata information about the table(s). It does not cause another initial refresh replication and does not change any properties for replications which use that table as a source or target table. If you make changes to a source and/or target table already involved in a replication, you must manually change the replication properties to reflect these changes:
- Stop the Syniti DR Replication Agent/DBMoto Data Replicator or disable the replication(s) accessing the affected table(s) by right clicking on the replications and clicking on the checked Enable Replication entry.
- Right click on the replication and choose Replication Properties.
- Edit the properties of the replication as needed. For example, if you have added columns to a source or target table, and have already updated the structure of the table, click Mapping to add the new columns to the replication.
- Click OK in the Replication Properties dialog when you have finished making changes.
- Enable the replication(s) again.
