Our Most Valuable Contributor this month is someone who has quickly identified herself as a trusted expert in the community: Jenny Drummey.
Jenny regularly provides helpful, articulate content. In addition to her posts in the community, Jenny has written over two dozen articles for our Help Center’s Knowledge Base.
It's clear that Jenny knows her stuff, and we held a short interview about her experience with the DSP.
Let me be the first to thank you for your contributions and congratulate you on this award, Jenny. How does it feel to be the January Most Valuable Contributor?
It is always nice to be valued. :)

Your profile tells me you’re the Technical Writer Manager at BackOffice. Could you tell us a little more about what that entails?
The Documentation team is responsible for producing all customer-facing documentation. I write content, ensure that we are on track for meeting deadlines, and support team members as needed.
In addition to your posts in the community, I see you’ve written articles for the Knowledge Base and your team creates the Online Help. In terms of content and approach, what would you say the primary differences are between the three?
The writing style is more informal for posts and Knowledge Base articles than for online help, which contains overview information, as well as detailed steps and descriptions for every field on every page in the DSP. Content comes from different sources as well: KB articles are often the result of support tickets that have described the issue and solution. Posts on the Data Insiders community come from having my ear to the ground and looking for article topics while performing daily tasks. And the online help is reviewed by Developers, PM and other SMEs to ensure technical accuracy.
Thus far, we’re thoroughly impressed with the value and quality of content you’ve provided to the community. Is there anything you’d specifically consider your area of expertise?
Organizing and presenting information, regardless of the subject, in a way that readers can understand.
Which product feature have you found the most interesting/challenging to document?
That is a tough one! Recently, I wrote about Information Governance Universal Connect, which uses the DSP® combined with Dell Boomi, an Integration Platform as a Service (IPaaS) solution. Boomi’s connectors allow the DSP® to extract and load data in systems that do not use a database connection, such as Workday, Salesforce or SAP SuccessFactors. Describing the process and flexibility that IG UC provides was exciting – it empowers our customers to work with data from multiple systems without having to code.
Now outside of technical writing, what do you like to do in your downtime?
I take care of my four parrots and volunteer for a non-profit that finds home for birds whose owners can no longer care for them. I read a lot, go to art museums, and love the smell of books!
