At Syniti, the identification of the records that are in scope for migration is known as ‘Source Relevancy’. It’s crucial that the records in scope for migration are identified as early as possible. This is because many activities such as data cleansing, data enrichment and data validation are based upon these Source Relevant records. Furthermore, it’s important that this Source Relevant recordset has referential integrity within itself. For example, all the components on the bill of materials of active finished goods need to be in the Source Relevant dataset. Based upon this recordset, there is the opportunity to create cleansing reports that identify potentially erroneous data. Taking the finished goods bill of materials as an example, maybe there are components on a bill of material that are flagged for deletion. These should not be automatically excluded from the migration, instead, these exceptions should be identified and resolved.
In order to support the Source Relevancy process, from Stewardship Tier version 7.4.3 onwards, Syniti has introduced several Source Relevancy pages that come installed in the Construct webapp. These pages allow Source Relevancy criteria to be defined and later consumed in the migration process developed in Advanced Data Migration
These pages are detailed in the ‘Syniti Source Relevancy Solution Accelerator’ guide, attached to this article.
While these new pages are automatically installed on new Stewardship Tier instances of 7.4.3 or above, they will NOT be automatically installed on Stewardship Tier instances that are being upgraded to version 7.4.3 or above. Instead, a Source Relevancy Solution Accelerator (compatible with 7.1.4 or above) that includes the Source Relevancy pages can be requested from Syniti Support by raising a support ticket and requesting the ‘Source Relevancy Solution Accelerator.’
Additionally, in order to accelerate the generation of a Source Relevant recordset on projects that are using Advanced Data Migration to migrate from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, Syniti has created an end-to-end process that maps data from an SAP ECC data model into a generic data model that is used to identify a Source Relevant recordset. This process can be obtained from Syniti Support by raising a support ticket and requesting the ‘Central Wave - ECC Knowledge Pack.’
