In Assemble under package mapping, I see a text box named EXPRESSION. What is the purpose of this textbox? What kind of expression can be typed here? Kindly give me an example which I could try out in the hands-On.

  Hi Sharayu,

  This field can be used to populate default value to the target table column.

  While mapping, if you have a target column which needs to be populated with a default value then you could use the Expression field to have that default value and leave the source field as blank.

  

  If you execute the package , the target column [ShipCity] will have the expression as data.

  P:S. If you're looking for some SQL conversions, I'd Suggest to register your source type as SQL and use the SQL conversions in the SELECT clause of SOURCE SQL in package definition
