Data Governance is a critical component of any company's data strategy. The reliability and cost-effectiveness of an ERP system is only as good as the quality of data that resides within it. DSPMonitor is an easy-to-use and powerful tool that assists in providing enterprises critical and reliable insight into the data in the enterprise's ERP platform. As a general rule, the more reports that are used within dspMonitor, the better understanding users will have about their data.
Additionally, the superior integration between applications within DSP will allow users to not only view potential errors within a system using dspMonitor, but will also be able to remediate the data errors by using dspCompose. DSPConduct can be used as well, but this article will focus on dspCompose. Users can simply create a separate import view within SQL Server based on the view used in dspMonitor, and then remediate and post the fixed data all from within dspCompose. This works great for one report. But what if there are multiple reports? 50? 100? The process of remediating one report at a time, though easy, can still be arduous, given the potential volume of a complete set of dspMonitor reports.
The solution? Create a union import view of all reports that could potentially list errors and remediate all at once. To successfully use the union view, users will need to consider some points to and put into place the following:
- Create all of the separate dspMonitor reports with the same fields and field order for all. This is critical for a union view. Since an error report would require an update template in dspCompose, this consistent list of fields should not be an issue. If some reports are significantly different, then another dspCompose template may need to be employed and these different reports should be left out of the union view.
- Create separate import views for each dspMonitor report to give users the flexibility to remediate individual reports if the need arises.
- Make sure all validation rules are created and registered in dspCompose for each report used in the import union view. This should eliminate any errored records from getting posted without changes.
The power and flexibility of the DSP toolset proves time and time again that the full suite of applications from data governance to data integration is a one-stop shop for all data-related solutions.
