When mapping with a default rule in dspMigrate, the action allows the user to assign a single value to all records containing that field. For example, a common default rule assigns the value of 'E' in the SPRAS (Language) Field in an SAP system, since other systems do not necessarily contain a separate language field.
But what if a user wants to assign a blank value (' ') to the field, perhaps to temporarily remediate null data or as a place holder, which would be converted to a manual rule for more complex operations? Thanks to the flexibility of the dspMigrate tool, this is easily achievable.
Map the field as a default rule and enter '<blank>' in the Default field in the Map section.
When generated by AutoGen, an update rule is created that inserts a single space into each record that contains the field for which the users intended for a blank.
Users can also enter in a single space (' ') when mapping this feature to achieve the same result.
