We need to extract data from a legacy SAP system. The chosen method for this extract is SAP Data Services via the SAP Application Layer. Therefore, we have no Database Level details/credentials. I would like a recommendation for the set-up of the Data Source (Registry) and Collect Target Source. Intuitively, I would expect to create an sdb database (registered as a Migration Source Database) to store the extracted data and then an SAP Application Server Source Registration for the Application. Having set this up, I am able to register the sdb database as the Collect Target; however, it seems that I can't select a Data Source that has SAP Application Server as the Type. Is this correct? It doesn't make sense to create an External System Connection for the Source SAP System because I do not have any Database Server/Credentials. I can use dummy details and then simply set the SAP Settings on the Source in Collect, and, since we extract with DataServices, the Database in the External Connection will not be used. Any guidance is appreciated.
What's the data source (registry) and Collect target source setup to extract data using SAP Data Services?
