We’ve all heard of the 7-year itch - that time of potential crisis when you traditionally evaluate your relationship and decide whether it's what you really want or not? It’s such a common idiom that a famous namesake film was made back in 1955 starring Marilyn Monroe and Tom Ewell.
Contrary to popular belief, the original seven-year itch wasn't a condition related to relationships. It actually referred to an irritating skin complaint that supposedly lasted for seven years, and so it became a metaphor for all things deemed annoying.
As the clock ticked over to 2018, so begins another kind of 7-year itch – the 2025 SAP S/4HANA deadline. Assuming you plan to stay with SAP, a move to S/4HANA is inevitable at some point within the next 7 years. The question is when, how, and where?
While 7 years may seem like a long time, complex migrations need plenty of runway to plan and execute. You really should be starting to plan your roadmap this year.
Benjamin Franklin (or Winston Churchill depending on your geography!) advises: If You Fail to Plan, You Plan to Fail.
Moving to SAP S/4HANA can be an evolution or a revolution - how you get there will depend on where you are today and your appetite for risk.
Cutting through the hype and the myth can be challenging. There’s a lot you need to do before moving. To reduce business risk, prioritize investment, and identify quick wins to pull forward benefits, you need to build a realistic plan of what needs to be done, within what timeframes and levels of investment.
You should be advising your business now on all the options so stakeholders can make the right decisions at the right time. Our SAP S/4HANA Readiness e-book offers advice and thoughts on some of the key considerations to help you get started on planning your digital roadmap.
