Solution: DSP Migrate
Component: Map
Do you know what the possible Source Types in dspMigrate are?
Have you ever tried to delete a Source from Map and you couldn’t?
If you do not know the answer to one of those questions, this post will help you.
Answering the first question above, these are the different source types:
1 - "Add Row" - Required for all Sources in Target Design and Map
2 - "Add Row - Additional" - Second Add Table for the same Source. This will display only in Map TargetSource and Field Mapping
3 - "Update Row" - Not visible in Target Design. Add in Map to update add row from another table in the source
4 - "External Source" - Update Row in Primary Source from a Table outside of the select source system
5 - "Target Rules" - Does not need a Source and will only be displayed in Map
6 - "Full Construction" - Full construction on show in Target Design and the Add row will display as sdbConstruct in Target Design and Map.
For the second question, you need to know that the source type = 1, is not possible to be deleted from Map.
Example: We have 4 sources for my Target. The first source that you add into Map is created as Source Type = 1 (Add Row) and is not possible to change it.
For that source, as the delete button is disabled, you will need to use the Active box to disable the source.
The other sources are added as Source Type = 2 (Add Row – Additional) and the delete button is enabled:
Knowing that you cannot either delete or change the Source Type 1, I always recommend that before you add a new source, you must ensure that the first one is still valid; otherwise, change the Source Database Object.
Additionally, you can also change the Source Database Object without losing your mapping.
I hope you have found this post interesting.
Please do not hesitate to ask any questions.
