|Options for viewing replication activity, and details on viewing a log of Syniti DR/DBMoto replication history
How can I see what actions were performed during replication, and how would I know if there were any problems or errors?
Several tools are available for viewing replication activity:
Log and Log Viewer -- You can write a log of replication information to a file, to a database, in the Windows Event log or to Log4Net. Because a significant amount of information is recorded during replication, it is usually preferable to write the log to a file, and to manage the file(s) carefully. See below for more information.
Replication Monitor -- Shows which replications are running and how each replication is progressing.
Replication Activity Viewer -- A graphical overview of performance for a specific replication.
History Viewer -- The replication history for a specific replication, including log messages.
Verifier -- View and verify replication results on source and target tables.
Dashboard/Statistics Tab -- Analyze replication data over time based on a specified Metadata and history file or database.
For more information about these tools, check the Help available in the Management Center.
Log and Log Viewer
In Syniti DR/DBMoto7 and above, you can access a log file from the Metadata Explorer toolbar, or from the right mouse button menu for a specific metadata.
If the Replication Agent/Data Replicator is running in interactive mode or if the Service Monitor is running you can also access the log file by right-clicking the Service Monitor icon in the Windows Notification Area and selecting View Log File.
To change the log type (log file, database, Windows Event log or Log4Net):
- In the Management Center's Metadata Explorer toolbar, Select the Replication Agent/Data Replicator Options icon.
- In the Options dialog, go to the Log tab.
- Select the correct log destination.
- Click OK to close the dialog.
If you require technical support, save the log to a file and attach it to a Help Center ticket (if under 20MB) or upload it using Box.
